Microsoft is merging its Windows Experience and Windows Devices teams into a single unit and naming company veteran Pavan Davuluri to lead it.as edge It was pointed out that Davuluri has been the head of the Surface team since Microsoft split the Windows experience and devices after Panos Panay left last year. The company is once again expanding its responsibilities after he left again, this time to former Windows experience leader Mikhail Parakhin, who was responsible for the Bing search engine and its advertising business.
The publication obtained a letter written by Rajesh Jha, the company’s head of technology, who said Parakhin “has decided to explore a new role.” It’s unclear whether he’s leaving Microsoft entirely or whether he’s still looking for new opportunities within the company. But it’s worth noting that his decision to step down comes just a week after Microsoft hired Deepmind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman, who apparently asked Parakhin to report directly to him. Currently, Palashin remains at Microsoft and will report to the company’s chief technology officer Kevin Scott during the transition period.
Jha wrote in the letter that merging the two teams will allow the company to “take a holistic approach to building chips, systems, experiences and devices across Windows clients and the cloud for this era of artificial intelligence.” While Davuluri now also leads Network road experience and device teams, but the former still needs to report to Suleyman, who is responsible for Microsoft’s artificial intelligence work.
